The following is a statement from Telsim:

Cem and Hakan Uzan Uzan may refer to:
  • traveling musicians in Western Asia, see Ashik
  • Uzan, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, a village in France
  • Uzan River, in France
 today resigned today from the Board of Telsim. They decided to step down in order to prevent Telsim suffering any damage to its successful operations from further illegal actions by the AKP AKP Adalet Ve Kalkinma Partisi (Turkish: Party for Justice and Progress)
AKP Arbeidernes Kommunist Parti (Norwegian Political Party)
AKP Agjencia Kombetare e Privatizimit
 Government which is conducting a campaign to damage companies owned by the Uzan family.

Telsim is Turkey's second largest mobile telecoms operator with 6.7 million subscribers.

Hakan Uzan commented:

"The AKP Government has damaged a number of Uzan Group companies including confiscating without compensation the power utilities CEAS CEAS College of Engineering and Applied Sciences
CEAS Centre Écologique Albert Schweizer
CEAS Center for Environmental Assessment Services
CEAS Comprehensive Environmental Assessment System (oceanographic data)
