Telos selected to develop IT plan for Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

WASHBURN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 28, 1996--Telos(R) Corporation announces an agreement with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) to develop the master plan for the Subic Cybercity Project.

The 2 year systems integration project encompasses design, development and procurement oversight of interrelated systems to provide essential services to the Subic Bay Freeport Zone including security, emergency response, voice/data/video communications, financial systems, education and state-of-the-art Information Technology (IT) applications.

The goal of the Subic Cybercity project is to create an advanced IT infrastructure for a completely integrated city that will provide residents, enterprises and organizations with the latest in technology. The project includes a telecommunications network infrastructure and systems solutions for trade, office automation, inventory/proc-urement, facilities management and tourism.

The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority was established in 1992 and charged with developing the Subic Bay Freeport Zone into a self-sustaining industrial, commercial, financial and investment, and tourist center. As a result of the innovative and applied efforts of a dedicated group of SBMA associates and their leader, Chairman Richard Gordon, the Subic Bay Freeport has become a model for the successful transformation of a former U.S. Navy base into a viable and dynamic economic zone. Numerous large multinational companies including FedEx, Reebok, Acer, and Asia Pacific Press have been attracted to the SBF and are establishing bases of operation for business in the ASEAN region.

The 12 person Telos Cybercity team will manage the project in Subic Bay with the active involvement of SBMA and partnerships with IT industry leaders such as Sun Microsystems, Compaq, AT&T, Alcatel, Oracle, Lotus, Microsoft, Cisco, Cabletron and others. An immediate objective is to ready the SBF with supplementary communications, security, and IT infrastructure in anticipation of the Summit Meeting of the Asia Pacific Economic Council (APEC) to be held in November 1996. Attending APEC will be 18 heads of state from major Pacific and ASEAN economies (Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United States).

Participation in the Subic Cybercity project grew from Telos experience in project management and large-scale infrastructure deployment similar to support provided to the Department of Justice by the Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) business unit headed by Telos vice president, Don Fernandez.
