Telephone filing now available nationwide.

The IRS TeleFile system became available nationwide on January 11, 1996. Only taxpayers who (1) can use form 1040EZ to file and (2) receive a booklet from the IRS in the mail can participate in the program.

Filing a return should take about 10 minutes. Telephone filers who are due refunds can expect to receive them about three weeks, according to the IRS.
