Teleglobe International Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:TLGB), a leading provider of international telecommunications services In telecommunication, the term telecommunications service has the following meanings:

1. Any service provided by a telecommunication provider.

2.
to carriers and internet service providers Internet service provider (ISP)

Company that provides Internet connections and services to individuals and organizations. For a monthly fee, ISPs provide computer users with a connection to their site (see data transmission), as well as a log-in name and password.
, and Blueslice Networks, a leading provider of mobile network infrastructure for subscriber profile management, today announced at the 3GSM World Congress that the companies have successfully completed SS7 over IP testing and are ready for traffic between Teleglobe's global SS7 network and Blueslice's development lab. Test completion marks the first step toward Teleglobe's utilization of an open-standard SS7 over IP to enhance their global SS7 network infrastructure. Attendees at the Congress are invited to visit Blueslice Networks at booth J49 in Hall 3, where several representatives will be on hand to answer questions.

With Blueslice as a pioneering user, Teleglobe is able to accelerate its implementation of an open-standard SS7 over IP signaling capability in its network. Concurrently, Blueslice gains immediate access to the over 400 mobile operators reached through Teleglobe's global SS7 network, providing its customers with the option to remotely access and trial Blueslice's Mobile SIP Exchange(TM), a next generation Home Logical Register (HLR (Home Location Register) A database in a cellular system that contains all the subscribers within the provider's home service area. When a subscriber reaches a new service area, the data in the HLR is requested and transferred via SS7 to the VLR (Visitor Location ), and Universal Presence Server (TM), a Presence and Location subscriber management application. This eliminates the need to install and test Blueslice's equipment in their own networks in order to trial the services.

Up until now, Teleglobe relied solely on physically diverse international private lines to connect its customers to its mobile signaling network. With SS7 over IP, Teleglobe will have a cost-efficient, flexible and reliable alternative to bring customers on-net, allowing Teleglobe to provision its signaling services more rapidly to reach a greater number of customers. SS7 over IP is ideal for mobile operators who are far from Teleglobe's SS7 points of presence and who want to quickly use Teleglobe's SS7-based SCCP (Signaling Connection Control Point) A layer 3 protocol in an SS7 network that routes a message to the appropriate database. SCCP is used in conjunction with the TCAP protocol for sending queries to databases. See SS7 and TCAP. The SS7 over IP technology will also be used in its interconnection to other SCCP transport providers, allowing Teleglobe to better manage its customer requirements, significantly reduce infrastructure costs and increase its overall SS7 network scalability.

"This collaboration opens up mobile operators to a trusted HLR solution for mobile signaling connectivity and subscriber profile management, built on an innovative and open standard platform," said Stephan Ouaknine, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Working with Teleglobe also gives us new opportunities and a stronger offering for the compelling MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) A reseller of wireless services. MVNOs do not own licensed spectrum and typically do not have any of their own wireless network infrastructure.  market."

"As Teleglobe builds its next-generation mobile signaling network, its focus on quality and scale remains," said Stephane E. Brisebois, Teleglobe's General Manager of Mobile Signaling Service. "In the short term, SS7 over IP will allow Teleglobe to extend its reach and speed of interconnection in areas where traditional IPL (Initial Program Load) Same as boot.

services are long and expensive to implement. SS7 over IP will bring more flexibility to adapt network capacity to the customer requirements, including the ability to face significant traffic variations, such as that resulting from SMS-voting or SMS-campaigns.
