:BCE), a leading provider of global communications and e-Business services, today announced it has signed an agreement with Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM), the oldest university in the Americas, and Mexico's major scientific and research institution, to provide increased capacity for high-speed global Internet connectivity and a direct connection to major North American and global research and education networks via Teleglobe's Internet backbone network.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Under the agreement, Teleglobe will provide an E-3, 34 Mbps connection from UNAM's 1,400 km in-country Internet backbone network to Teleglobe's global IP backbone network through the company's Mexico City Point of Presence (POP).

UNAM is Mexico's largest non-profit Internet Service Provider Internet service provider (ISP)
