SBC (1) (SBC Communications Inc., San Antonio, TX, www.sbc.com) A large, national telecommunications company that grew from a multitude of local and regional companies, including Southwestern Bell, Pacific Bell and Nevada Bell, into a single, unified brand by 2002. Communications Inc. acquired AT&T Corp. to form the new AT&T, Inc. as of November November: see month. 2005 and TimeWarner Inc. and Comcast Comcast Corporation, (NASDAQ: CMCSA) is the largest[1] cable television (CATV) company and the second largest Internet service provider in the United States. Corp. are reportedly close to their acquisition of Adelphia A`del´phi`a n. 1. (Bot.) A "brotherhood," or collection of stamens in a bundle; - used in composition, as in the class names, Monadelphia, Diadelphia, etc. s> Communications in early 2006. No. 1 on the list is the new AT&T with 3,750 employees located in the greater-Valley area, followed by Verizon (No. 2) with 500 employees and Time Warner (No. 3) with 450 employees. New to the list is Xirrus Xirrus, Inc is a Wi-Fi technology company based in Westlake Village, California, USA, that designs and sells wireless networking equipment based on the IEEE standards 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g. The company has been independently selling these products since 2005. Inc. with 45 employees and QualityLogic Inc. with 20 employees. Xirrus Inc. provides wireless equipment supplies while QualityLogic Inc. offers quality assurance testing services for telecommunications. The new company is the result of the acquisition of AT&T Corp. by SBC Communications. The company reported having 197,100 employees combined internationally. The new AT&T owns 60 percent of Cingular Wireless. Cingular has 52.3 million subscribers in 49 states. The company has begun trading under the "T" symbol on the New York Stock Exchange New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) World's largest marketplace for securities. The exchange began as an informal meeting of 24 men in 1792 on what is now Wall Street in New York City. . They also unveiled their new corporate logo this last November. It requires a DSL modem, which splits transmissions into two frequency bands: the lower frequencies for voice (ordinary , satellite television, wireless and Voice over IP (VoIP).
