Telaxis Communications Announces Agreement With Marconi.

SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 5, 2001

Telaxis Communications Corporation (Nasdaq:TLXS), a leading provider of broadband wireless See wireless broadband.  access products, today announced that it has signed an agreement with Marconi (Nasdaq:MONI) to supply RF subsystems for Marconi's highly successful Skyband range of broadband wireless products. Under the terms of the agreement, Marconi has selected Telaxis to initially supply 28GHz outdoor RF equipment for the base stations and customer located equipment of its MDMS MDMS Meter Data Management System
MDMS Marconi Digital Multipoint System (Marconi)
MDMS Maintenance Data Management System
MDMS Model Driven Monitoring System (IBM)

The parties also intend to explore potential applications of Telaxis' technology to Marconi's point-to-point product range and the exchange of information and potential collaboration on the development of monolithic microwave integrated circuit MMICs, or Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits, are a type of integrated circuit (IC) devices that operate at microwave frequencies (1 GHz to 300 GHz). They typically perform functions such as microwave mixing, power amplification, low noise amplification, and high  (MMIC (Monolithic Microwave IC) An integrated circuit used in high-frequency applications such as mobile phones. Also known as "monolithic microwave/millimeter-wave IC," MMICs combine transistors and passive devices (resistors, capacitors, etc. ) devices for future millimeter-wave products.
