) today announced a new addition to its international distributor channel, Chicom Technology Co. Ltd. in China.

Chicom Technology will focus on market penetration Noun 1. market penetration - the extent to which a product is recognized and bought by customers in a particular market

 in Northern China for TelCom.

Chicom Technology is based in Beijing, with branch offices in Shanghai, Xian, Suhan, Nanjing and Shenzhen. Strategically, Chicom will be responsible for technical design-in and market penetration at manufacturers of PABX (Private Automatic Branch eXchange) Same as PBX.

For TelCom, the new distributor represents a significant opportunity in Northern China. "We want to capitalize on Cap´i`tal`ize on`

 the R&D capabilities in Northern China and Chicom will drive new design-ins for us," said Louis Lam, TelCom's Area Sales Manager for Asia.

TelCom's major products involved will be DC/DC converters, supervisory integrated circuits, LDO's, analog-to-digital converters, and temperature sensors. Presently, TelCom's number one customer in China is Motorola, where TelCom's integrated circuits have been designed-in to Motorola's cellular phones and pagers.

To launch the new manufacturer/distributor relationship, TelCom's President and Chief Executive Officer, Phillip M. Drayer, will be visiting Beijing from April 16 - 18, 1997. The purpose of the visit is for Drayer to visit with TelCom's key customers, initiate the new arrangement with Chicom, and to discuss future business in China.

TelCom Semiconductor was formed in 1993, as the result of a management buy-out of Teledyne Components, to design, develop and manufacture high-performance analog integrated circuits for a broad spectrum of customers with commercial, high-volume, product applications.

TelCom Semiconductor focuses on proprietary and commodity mixed-signal, power management, and smart sensor devices. The company's products include temperature sensors, voltage references, analog-to-digital converters, op amps, DC/DC converters, pulse-width modulators, linear regulators, MOSFET (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor) The most popular and widely used type of field effect transistor (see FET). MOSFETs are either NMOS (n-channel) or PMOS (p-channel) transistors, which are fabricated as individually packaged  drivers, and system supervisors.
