Tekelec to Provide Virtual Home Location Register to French GSM Operator, Bouygues Telecom.

Tekelec Tekelec, Inc. (NASDAQ:TKLC), (founded 1979 in California, now headquartered in Morrisville, North Carolina, USA) is an industry leader building smart carrier networks through an innovative combination of signaling, switching, and applications.  (Nasdaq:TKLC) today announced that it has signed a multimillion dollar contract with Bouygues Telecom, the first French operator to develop and operate a nationwide GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) A digital cellular phone technology based on TDMA that is the predominant system in Europe, but also used worldwide. Developed in the 1980s, GSM was first deployed in seven European countries in 1992.  1800 network. Tekelec will provide a virtual home location register (HLR (Home Location Register) A database in a cellular system that contains all the subscribers within the provider's home service area. When a subscriber reaches a new service area, the data in the HLR is requested and transferred via SS7 to the VLR (Visitor Location ) built on its EAGLE(R) service platform combined with its flexible numbering solution, G-Flex(TM) SS7 Relay. Tekelec's virtual HLR centralizes access to the subscriber databases within the network. Tekelec's solution allows Bouygues Telecom to flexibly allocate To reserve a resource such as memory or disk.
