Tekelec Announces Major Softswitch Initiative with the VXi 2000 Media Gateway Controller.

The VXi 2000 MGC, a major enhancement to the VoX MGC platform, is the first offering in Tekelec's VXi family of softswitches. The VXi softswitch family delivers a complete suite of applications including distributed packet tandem, alternate access control, Internet offload, and virtual private network (VPN (Virtual Private Network) A private network that is configured within a public network (a carrier's network or the Internet) in order to take advantage of the economies of scale and management facilities of large networks. ).
