Tek-Tools Customer Survey Reveals Ever-Increasing Need for Backup Analysis; Companies Polled Also Report Monitoring an Average of 60 TBs of Storage Per Week.

DALLAS -- Tek-Tools, Inc., the leader in the storage and backup resource management market, announced today the results of a company-conducted poll into the storage requirements and usage by customers of its Profiler Rx(TM) suite. The main findings indicate that backup processes in many of today's networking environments are poor and that efficiencies are only met through consistent monitoring and reporting of backup traffic for maximum optimization of resources.

the results of the survey, more than 60 percent of all Tek-Tools customers use Profiler Rx primarily to monitor their company's backup. Profiler Rx identifies how much data is being backed up, if backups were successful, how long backups take, trend when the backup window will be exceeded and report on SLAs. Tek-Tools users backup an average 60 TBs of data each week.

"Though many IT managers recognize the importance of corporate data protection and the liability involved in not properly backing up this information, there tends to be a complacency in assuming automated backups will deliver as promised," said Ken Barth, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Tek-Tools, Inc. "But when it comes time to restore this data for business continuity or federal regulation compliance reasons, many may find themselves in the unfortunate situation of having to explain why their backups were not 100 percent successful."

Many traditional backup methods prove inadequate in today's networking environments. Read/write failures, hardware misconfigurations, inefficient software protocols and problematic heterogeneous architectures contribute to inefficiencies that leave companies venerable to data loss and/or inability to restore business-critical data. Tek-Tools' customers employ Profiler Rx to combat these backup deficiencies by analyzing traffic and identifying storage pain points in order to develop the best solution to correct the areas marked for improvement.

Profiler Rx is a powerful software tool that provides IT managers with tangible information about the accuracy of their backup process as well as their storage systems, allowing them to better manage their data and ensuring its availability when needed. Because of its ability to monitor an entire network and ensure that data is properly backed up, Tek-Tools' line of modular storage management tools is an ideal solution for corporations that need to comply with federal regulations regarding auditing of information, permanency per·ma·nen·cy
