Twaron is a heat-resistant and strong synthetic fiber developed in the early 1970s by the Dutch company AKZO, division Enka, later Akzo Industrial Fibers.
 plans to considerably increase production at sites in Delfzijl and Emmen, the Netherlands. The extension of the monomers and polymer plant in Delfzijl will require approximately 40-45% of the total investment and will be realized in close cooperation with Akzo Nobel Akzo Nobel is a multinational company, active in the fields of healthcare products, coatings and chemicals. Headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, the company has activities in more than 80 countries, and employs approximately 62,000 people.  Engineering, Tebodin and Stork stork, common name for members of a family of long-legged wading birds. The storks are related to the herons and ibises and are found in most of the warmer parts of the world. . The spinning plant in Emmen, which accounts for 55-60% of the total investment, will be extended in close cooperation with Akzo Nobel Engineering and Kvaerner. Total annual production of Twaron para-aramid fibers at Teijin Twaron will be increased by 7,500 tons to 18,500 tons.
