Teens drinking more milk. (Consumer).

Per capita consumption of milk for teens rose from 22 gallons in 2001 to 23.5 gallons in 2002, according to NFO WorldGroup's Share of Intake Panel data. This is the second year in a row that teen milk consumption has increased, following a four-year decline in per capita teen milk consumption.

The rise in teen milk consumption also follows targeted programs and advertisements to reach teens from the Milk Processor Education Program. In 2000, MilkPEP decided to concentrate funds of the National Milk Mustache campaign on areas providing the best opportunity to increase milk sales. As a primary audience of the campaign, teens were targeted specifically with programs such as the Shake Stuff Up Milk Mustache Mobile tour, NBA "got milk?" Rookie of the Year program and Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY) contest.
