Teen starts veterans memorial project.


Simon Sharp, a 14-year-old in the town of Celebration, Florida Celebration, Florida is a census-designated place and an unincorporated master-planned community in Osceola County in the U.S. state of Florida, near Walt Disney World Resort. It was developed by The Walt Disney Company. , thought about a worthwhile activity he could perform as his Eagle Scout Ea·gle Scout

 project. Showing appreciation to our nation's military veterans, who have given so much of themselves to our country, meant a lot to him, and so Simon decided to build a veterans memorial in Celebration, all on his own!

Like all such projects, Simon's began with fundraising. He sells patriotic pins, at five dollars each, to fund the memorial.

"The pin has boots, a gun and a helmet, which in World War II when they would bury Bury (bĕ`rē), city (1991 pop. 60,785) and metropolitan district, NE England, located in the Manchester metropolitan area on the Irwell River and linked by canal with Bolton and Manchester.  the bodies, they'd place the gun and the helmet as sort of a gravestone or cross," he told WESH TV-2 News in Orlando.

Simon shared a very healthy philosophy about his volunteer work with the news media: "What a community is, is almost one big family and if you don't help each other out, it's not very family-like," he said. The Eagle Scout also encourages all young people to become involved in Scouting scouting: see Boy Scouts; Girl Scouts.

Simon estimates that it will take $15,000 to complete the project, but he is very optimistic op·ti·mist
