Teen faces court.

A teenager who gave himself up to police after a 24-hour search was due in court today.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, allegedly threatened police with a Samurai sword, during a dispute in Chester-le-Street on Sunday.

He has been charged with two counts of criminal damage and one of affray. He was also charged with burglary at an address in Fence Houses, Houghton-le-Spring, earlier this month.

The teenager was due at Peterlee Magistrates' Court.

He gave himself up just before midnight on Monday in the nearby village of Bournmoor.
