Rauschenbush, or "Pastor Paul," takes a very different approach to bringing religion to youth. Rather than advocating one particular religion, Raushenbush exposes readers to five different religions, namely: Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism
This article is about the historical interaction between Islam and Judaism. For the history of the Jewish communities in Muslim lands, see History of the Jews under Muslim rule.
. He also makes mention of several less well-known religions. He discusses a wide-range of issues from differing faith perspectives including interfaith dating, church, peer pressure, prayer, homosexuality, tattooing and piercing.

Through letters from teenagers around the world, Raushenbush presents teenaged readers with knowledge and choices they might not acquire on their own. Because the letters are from peers, readers can most likely find at least one issue to which they can relate.

Raushenbush includes quotes from celebrities, including African American African American Multiculture A person having origins in any of the black racial groups of Africa. See Race.  rappers Ja Rule and KRS-One, and basketball great Hakeem Olajuwon Hakeem Abdul Olajuwon (born Akeem Abdul Olajuwon on January 21, 1963) is a retired Nigerian-American professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). , making the book appealing to a variety of teens.

I thoroughly enjoyed Teen Spirit and would strongly recommend it to every teenager who is exploring religious paths. "Pastor Paul" has produced a brilliant work that will be a resource for generations to come.
