What's your earliest memory of cooking?

When I first started learning how to cook [around age 11], I would wait till my mom would leave for work in the summertime and then I would experiment with the food in the kitchen, making different things that I would see on TV.

Who has inspired you to cook, other than people in your family?

I watch the Food Network a lot. I learned from Emeril and Rachael Ray Rachael Domenica Ray (born August 25, 1968 in Glens Falls, New York[1][2]) is an Emmy-award winning television personality and author, who currently hosts the syndicated talk/lifestyle program Rachael Ray and two Food Network series,  and Martha Stewart <noinclude></noinclude>

Martha Stewart (born Martha Helen Kostyra on August 3, 1941) is an American business magnate, author, editor and homemaking advocate. She is also a former stockbroker and fashion model.
and Paula's Home Cooking Paula's Home Cooking is a Food Network show hosted by Paula Deen. Deen's primary culinary focus is Southern cuisine and familiar comfort food that is popular with Americans. .

Do you have a signature dish?

I like to make hors d'oeuvres and things like that for parties.... They're a little easier to make, and they're fun to decorate.

What does it take to become a great chef?

It's a lot of hard work and time.... You have to have the passion. You have to want to do it.
