Technology Firms Enter an Agreement To Speed Up Health Claims Processing.

, Pa., has entered an agreement with IDX Systems IDX Systems Corporation (IDX) was a healthcare software technology company that formerly had headquarters in South Burlington, Vermont. It was founded in 1969 by Robert Hoehl, Richard Tarrant, and Paul Egerman.  Corp. to provide integrated payer connectivity services, specifically its Integrated Eligibility Service, for IDX's eCommerce Services.

Through the agreement, IDX (IDX Systems Corporation, South Burlington, VT, www.idx.com) One of the largest health care information systems companies in the country, acquired in 2006 by GE Healthcare (www.gehealthcare.com), a unit of the General Electric Company.  eCommerce Services, a new, Internetbased offering from IDX, will give health-care providers instant access to more than 150 payers. The offering provides a gateway that links health-care organizations electronically to trading partners through a single Internet Internet

Publicly accessible computer network connecting many smaller networks from around the world. It grew out of a U.S. Defense Department program called ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network), established in 1969 with connections between computers at the

Healthcare Data Exchange's services work in conjunction with existing patient accounting systems, so IDX customers can integrate Healthcare Data Exchange into their services, said Healthcare Data Exchange spokeswoman Brenda Fix.

Healthcare Data Exchange's Integrated Eligibility Service will link with IDX's eCommerce Services and enable automatic eligibility verification as patients are registering in the emergency room, clinic or anywhere else within the enterprise at any time.

IDX eCommerce Services supports compliance with transaction regulations under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was enacted by the U.S. Congress in 1996.
