TechnoCom Demonstrates Advanced Integrated Telematics Solution in Road Show Commemorating 50th Anniversary of the Interstate Highway System.

LOS ANGELES Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  -- TechnoCom Joins DaimlerChrysler, Econolite and Raytheon in First Demonstration of Interoperable Vehicle Infrastructure Integration Vehicle Infrastructure Integration (VII) is an initiative fostering research and applications development for a series of technologies directly linking road vehicles to their physical surroundings, first and foremost in order to improve road safety.  (VII) Applications

TechnoCom Corp. will demonstrate its interoperable 5.9 GHz dedicated short range communications “DSRC” redirects here. For other uses, see DSRC (disambiguation).
Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) is a short to medium range wireless protocol specifically designed for automotive use. It offers communication between the vehicle and roadside equipment.

Using a modified 802.11a technology for North American cars and trucks, DSRC is designed for several applications. ) solution for advanced telematics applications during the coast-to-coast Innovative Mobility Showcase road show. Sponsored in part by the American Association American Association refers to one of the following professional baseball leagues:

  • American Association (20th century), active from 1902 to 1962 and 1969 to 1997.
of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO AASHTO American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials ), this road show commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Interstate Highway System and will travel as a convoy to 14 cities across the nation.

The demonstration uses TechnoCom's Multiband Configurable Networking Unit (MCNU), a flexible wireless communication platform that can serve as either in-vehicle or roadside equipment to enable VII applications. For this showcase, the MCNU utilizes DSRC, which operates at 5.9 GHz and enables fast, efficient communication among vehicles or between roadside equipment and vehicles, at speeds up to 120 mph. The MCNU also supports Wi-Fi and 4.9 GHz Public Safety communications. The VII application software used in the road show and the MCNU were developed jointly by TechnoCom and Raytheon.

DaimlerChrysler, Econolite, Raytheon and TechnoCom have collaborated to create the applications for the VII demonstration. VII is one of the US Department of Transportation's (DOT) ambitious projects to combine advancements in sensors and wireless communications technology to create the next generation transportation network. With room running out on the roads, and vehicle collision- based fatalities high, VII is applying new technologies to prevent accidents and alleviate congestion The condition of a network when there is not enough bandwidth to support the current traffic load.

.

The Innovative Mobility Showcase will demonstrate a few of the many transportation safety and traveler information applications that are enabled by wireless communications from roadside equipment to moving vehicles. Included in the demonstration will be in-vehicle signing, in which dynamic road condition data are transmitted from road side equipment to the vehicle, warning the driver of impediments, such as approaching road construction zones or stop signs. In another application, an "intelligent intersection" will send real-time, instant traffic signal data to nearby vehicles which then combine the data with vehicle position information, which can help avoid intersection collisions. The last demonstration will show a preemption preemption

U.S. policy that allowed the first settlers, or squatters, on public land to buy the land they had improved. Since improved land, coveted by speculators, was often priced too high for squatters to buy at auction, temporary preemptive laws allowed them to acquire
scenario in which traffic signals are automatically overridden as a safety vehicle approaches the intelligent intersection and communicates with roadside equipment.

TechnoCom's leadership in VII and 5.9 GHz DSRC standardization, and independent development of corresponding software and solutions, has enabled it to apply its advanced telematics capabilities to this first demonstration of 5.9 GHz DSRC interoperability.
