TechnoCom Completes Delivery of Location Messaging Units and Platform to the City of San Diego.

LOS ANGELES -- TechnoCom Corporation(R), a leading provider of solutions to enable wireless location services and assure their ongoing performance, recently completed a critical delivery of its Location Messaging Unit (LMU) devices and platform to the city of San Diego. The advanced capabilities of TechnoCom's LMU, an intelligent wireless GPS messaging modem, has allowed the city to increase efficiencies through real-time resource management including improved vehicle routing, optimized fleet utilization, minimized airtime charges and increased fuel efficiencies. Over 50,000 of TechnoCom's wireless location solutions have been sold across the Americas.

"Rerouting more than 318,000 trash, recycling and yard waste collection accounts throughout the city of San Diego required using the most up-to-date technology that was both cost effective and offered us flexibility as we designed and implemented the new routes," said Elmer L. Heap, Jr., city of San Diego environmental services director. "We have operated the new routes for one year and we are now realizing a significant cost avoidance which is about $700,000 since June 2004 and will be almost $10,000,000 during the next decade."

The LMU and LM Direct(TM), an air interface-agnostic application programming interface (API), allow users and application providers to leverage location technology across a variety of wireless networks and machine-to-machine (M2M) applications. In addition, the platform's Programmable Event Generator(TM) (PEG(TM)), an on-board rules-based alert engine, monitors and reacts to equipment conditions and proactively generates events and alerts based on location and other parameters, such as vehicular inputs, sensor alarms, speed, distance, and time of day. The proprietary messaging API assures reliable data delivery and includes comprehensive unit management such as over-the-air firmware downloading and programming.
