Technical Committee 6 meeting report.


Over 80 delegates from 16 countries participated in the meeting of Technical Committee 6 (Paper, Board, and Pulps) of the International Organization for Standardization International Organization for Standardization (ISO)

Organization for determining standards in most technical and nontechnical fields. Founded in Geneva in 1947, its membership includes more than 100 countries.

), held June 6-10, 2005, in Stockholm, Sweden. Several meetings of working groups addressing specific topics were held, as well as plenary sessions for the two subcommittees and the main committee.

The countries that participate as members of ISO TC 6 develop international testing standards for pulp, paper, and board. Among the working group topics addressed were terminology, accelerated aging, optical properties, precision, microbiological methods, fracture toughness, fiber properties, edgewise edge·wise   also edge·ways

The Swedish Standards Institute SIS, Swedish Standards Institute, is an independent organization, founded in 1922, with members from the private and public sector. Activities
SIS and its members develop standards within different domains, including construction, safety, healthcare, consumer products,
 hosted the meeting, which included a reception with the mayor of Stockholm in City Hall, a walking tour of Old Town, and a dinner cruise on board the Gustafsberg VII.

The next meeting of ISO TC 6 will be hosted by the United States in Atlanta, November 13-17, 2006. TAPPI TAPPI Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry  is the ANSI-accredited administrator of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to ISO TC 6.
