Taro Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NASDAQ/NMS:TAROF) Tuesday announced the appointment of two veterans of the international pharmaceutical industry to its wholly owned subsidiary Wholly Owned Subsidiary

A subsidiary whose parent company owns 100% of its common stock.

Robert T. Schweiger was appointed to the newly created position of vice president and chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Before joining Taro, Schweiger was a vice president at Schein-Bayer Pharmaceutical Services Inc. in Parsippany, N.J., from 1994. He directed Eastern European, Middle Eastern and African operations for the Lederle division of American Cyanamid American Cyanamid was a large, diversified, American chemical manufacturer. Lederle Laboratories, maker of Centrum and Stresstabs vitamins, was Cyanamid's pharmaceutical division. Davis & Geck was the company's medical device division.  in Wayne, N.J., from 1992 to 1994. Schweiger will operate from the offices of Taro Pharmaceuticals U.S.A., Inc., the company's wholly owned subsidiary, in Hawthorne, N.Y.

Before joining Taro, Lewis worked for 17 years in international pharmaceutical marketing, business development and operations posts for companies including Servier in France, Chiron in the Netherlands and Farmitalia Carlo Erba in Italy. He will operate from England.

"The addition of these two highly qualified individuals will support Taro's international marketing effort with expertise that will be invaluable to the company," Levitt said.
