TapRoot Systems Inc. to Demonstrate First Automated Test Engine in a Mobile Phone at 3GSM World Congress.

Azimuth Systems Provides TapRoot with Automated Test Equipment for Certification and Performance Measurement

RESEARCH PARK TRIANGLE, N.C. & ACTON, Mass. -- TapRoot Systems Inc., a leading provider of embedded software solutions and reference platforms for smartphones, today announced that it will demonstrate the first automated Wi-Fi test engine running on a dual-mode (cellular and wireless LAN) mobile phone at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona from February 12-15, 2007, using automated test equipment from Azimuth Systems Inc., the leading provider of Wi-Fi engineering test equipment.

The TapRoot Wireless LAN Automated Test Client, running in conjunction with Azimuth Systems' ADEPT[TM] hardware platform and certification software, will streamline the Wi-Fi Alliance certification process for dual-mode mobile phone vendors. The Wireless LAN Automated Test Client supports a wide variety of wireless LAN chipsets and major mobile phone operating systems including: Symbian OS[TM], Microsoft[R] Windows Mobile[R] and Linux[R] Mobile.

"The Wireless LAN Automated Test Client helps TapRoot's customers bring high quality, Wi-Fi Alliance CERTIFIED[TM] devices to market ahead of the competition," said TapRoot's director of product management, Justin Helmig. "Azimuth is a key partner in enabling this fully automated testing environment."

Azimuth's AzCert[TM] Wi-Fi Certification Test Suite for Test Engine-enabled devices, which includes the ADEPT Capture Engine, is used by Wi-Fi Alliance Authorized Test Laboratories to streamline the certification process for a broad range of products. This includes devices with embedded Wi-Fi connectivity such as phones, handheld games and MP3 players, and standard Wi-Fi equipment such as notebooks and network cards. Wi-Fi vendors can use the AzCert solution to pre-test their devices and can use the Test Engine methodology to performance test their products.

"Azimuth is excited to work with TapRoot to bring test automation to mobile phones," said Jeff Abramowitz, Azimuth's vice president of marketing. "Service providers are demanding 'carrier-grade' Wi-Fi solutions and TapRoot's integration capabilities enable the required handset performance and interoperability testing."

The Wireless LAN Automated Test Client and services such as application specific device test authoring and pre-testing for Wi-Fi Alliance certification are currently available from TapRoot Systems. The AzCert Wi-Fi Certification Test Suite for Test Engine-enabled devices is currently available from Azimuth.
