British-born American physician noted for his research on yellow fever. In 1900 he deliberately infected himself with the disease for experimental purposes.

Prepared for the UK working group on education and HIV/AIDS HIV/AIDS Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome , this article focuses on the effects the AIDS crisis has had on children and how international agencies are addressing the educational needs of orphans and vulnerable children. The paper discusses how orphans and vulnerable children are produced by the AIDS crisis and what is being done to meet the needs of this growing population.
