Tampa Condos Expected to Sell at Rapid Pace in Saturday's J.P. King Auction.

TAMPA, Fla. -- Sales of newly built condominiums may be slowing in most places, but on Saturday, Dec. 9, 100 units in the Hamptons at Tampa Palms development will be selling at a pace of one every couple of minutes.

Bidders will gather at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay for the auction, which will include three-bedroom, two-bedroom and one-bedroom units. Bidding will begin at 10 a.m. Eastern time, and registration for live bidders will begin at 8 a.m. More than 30 have already registered to participate through online bidding arrangements, but the advanced-registration deadline for online bidding has expired.

"It'll move pretty quickly," said Craig King, president of J.P. King Auction Company, which will manage the sale. "Folks will need to have their homework done and their financing arranged before the bidding starts. It's a lot easier to bid when you're prepared," he said.

Forty of the units will sell at absolute auction, meaning they will go to the highest bidders with no minimum bid or reserve. The development is located at 15350 Amberly Drive in the New Tampa area.

The condominiums include many of the features in highest demand in today's market, said King. "Most of the units have attached garages, and they have high-end kitchens with center islands, bay windows, and baths with Roman tubs and separate showers. These are all very important to today's buyer," he said.
