Tampa Bay Terminal First in Americas to Go Live with Tideworks Technology's New Break-Bulk System Suite; New Terminal Operations Solution Increases Competitive Advantage.


SEATTLE -- Tideworks Technology(R) Inc., the leading provider of full-service terminal management and planning software solutions, today announced the successful deployment of its Wise Product Suite at SSA (Serial Storage Architecture) A fault tolerant peripheral interface from IBM that transfers data at 80 and 160 Mbytes/sec. . Within Tideworks' product offering, the suite represents a new product line for multi-purpose terminal management. This is the first deployment of the product line in the Americas, however, the Wise products are currently used in facilities throughout northern Europe.

Products in the suite used by Tampa include WiseTerm, for managing multi-purpose cargo terminals, WiseCare, for warehousing and inventory control, WiseStuff for container vanning and devanning, and WiseTalk, an advanced tool for communicating with customers and third parties. The Wise Product Suite offers a comprehensive system that can run on a variety of platforms, from Unix to Windows. The suite provides user-friendly solutions for all aspects of cargo management, including advanced billing functionality.

The terminal is operated for the Tampa Port Authority by SSA GULF Inc., a division of SSA Marine. SSA GULF Inc. handles a wide range of cargoes in the port, including containers, general cargo Cargo that is susceptible for loading in general, nonspecialized stowage areas or standard shipping containers; e.g., boxes, barrels, bales, crates, packages, bundles, and pallets.  and automobiles. The boundaries of the Port district includes parts of Tampa Bay, Hillsborough Bay, McKay Bay, Hillsborough River, and Old Tampa Bay.  is west central Florida's largest economic engine, home to 50 million tons of cargo and more than 750,000 passengers, and is responsible for 22,000 jobs and approximately $13 billion in spending.
