Tally Introduces the T6100 & T6101 Line Matrix Printers; Latest Offerings Mark New Milestones in Price/Performance, Cost-of-Ownership & Quiet Operation.

KENT, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 15, 1999--

A long-time manufacturer of rugged, workhorse printers for commercial and industrial enterprises, Tally(R) Printer Corporation leads the industry in the development of line matrix technology.

With the T6100 and T6101 line matrix printers, Tally not only achieves price/performance leadership, but also brings to market the lowest cost of ownership for products in this class. Derived from the highly successful T6090 and T6091, the T6100's are faster at 1020 lines per minute (unit) lines per minute - (lpm) A unit used to measure line printer throughput.  (LPM (Lines Per Minute) The number of lines a printer can print or a scanner can scan in a minute.

), and offer flexibility as open pedestal, enclosed pedestal or quiet cabinet configurations. At 49 dB(A) -- quieter than most laser printers -- the T6101 breaks the "quiet operation" record.

Positioned for Value and Low-Cost Operation

"For printing time-sensitive, high volume critical business documents at a very low cost, line matrix printers remain a viable solution," states Antje Koenig, Product Manager for Tally's impact printers. "Tally understands the needs of this market, and with the T6100 and T6101 we set out to provide the best overall value as well as the most aggressive cost of operation possible. As a result, these products are 11% below major competition for cost of ownership based on cost per lines per minute (list price divided by print speed.)"

"Cost of operation is also a major concern of these customers. Over a three-year period, the average user printing around 50,000 pages per month can save approximately $500 per year in consumables and service costs with the T6100 versus the competition," states Koenig.

Adapt to Various Environments

Reliability is the primary benefit to be derived from Tally's line matrix printers. With an unlimited duty cycle, the T6100 and T6101 are designed for long, unattended print runs of bar code labels, multiple part forms or heavy stock. Built to perform in harsh environments, these printers do well on a shipping dock or in a dusty factory, but can maintain office-quiet operation if necessary. Connectivity, Speed and Ease-of Use

One of its major functions is its communications protocol that negotiates printer transfers from servers in the network that  for Twinax/Coax.

For optimum speed and throughput, the T6100 incorporates a proprietary controller featuring "Page Segment Architecture" which intelligently arranges data into page "segments" prior to printing. This eliminates the time-consuming forms reversal typically required when printing text and graphics, and allows both to be printed in just one pass.

The T6100 utilizes Tally's clean-hands ribbon cartridge. In contrast to the time required to change a reel-to-reel ribbon and the inevitable mess, changing a cartridge simply involves removing the old one and snapping in a replacement.
