Talk back.

Dear Current Events,

George Bush's State of the Union address was the last time that he had a chance to redeem himself from all of the controversy with him in office ["State of the Union," issue 17]. Although he did not reach that goal completely, he still had some very strong points. I agree with his statements to continue to secure the country's borders. I disagree, though, with his plan for energy. I think he made an effort to create a different source of power a little bit too late. Overall, my feelings toward his speech were good. I just hope he follows through.

Dear CE,

If I were the president, I would lower oil prices, lower the prices on housing, and build up more oil refineries. I would change the regulations on automobile companies to make their autos more fuel-efficient ... Then, in the Middle East, I would start shipping more oil into the United States. Next, I would find more jobs for people without jobs. I would raise their income. That is what I would do if I were president.
