Talbots Mens to open its first New York City store. (Retail New York).

. The new 9,780-SF store at 527 Madison Ave. will be located adjacent to the retailer's 525 Madison Ave. women's flagship.

Formerly the site of The Gap, the space will house a 5,365-SF Talbots Mens at street level and a 4,415-SF Talbots Kids in the space's lower level.

Alan Victor, executive vice president of The Lansco Corporation, represented the tenant in the transaction.

"The space is currently undergoing an extensive renovation in preparation for the store's planned opening this September," commented Victor, who noted that Lansco has been responsible for all of the Talbots locations in Manhattan, including its original flagship and expansions in both the Upper East and Upper West Sides.

Ed Goldman and Gary Trock of Insignia/ESG represented the landlord, Equity Office Properties, in the long-term lease.

"We are delighted to be opening one of our first-ever Talbots Mens stores in New York," said Arnold B. Zetcher, Talbots chairman, president and chief executive officer. "With the opening of this new concept and the addition of Talbots Kids, our Madison Avenue Madison Avenue, celebrated street of Manhattan, borough of New York City. It runs from Madison Square (23d St.) to the Madison Bridge over the Harlem River (138th St.). In the 1940s and 50s, some of the major U.S.  flagship store will become a showcase for Talbots ability to wardrobe the entire family."

Following a catalog introduction in October 2002, the very first Talbots Mens store will officially open in April 2003 in Westport, Conn., followed shortly by additional openings in King of Prussia King of Prussia, industrialized suburban area (1990 pop. 18,406), Montgomery co., SE Pa. It has glass and steel fabricating, food processing, printing and publishing, and varied manufacturing (textiles, liquified petroleum gas, water-treatment and electrical , Pa., and Worthington, Ohio Worthington is a city in Franklin County, Ohio, United States. The population was 14,125 at the 2000 census. The city was founded in 1803 by the Scioto Company led by James Kilbourne, who was later elected to the United States House of Representatives. . Three more Talbots Mens stores will open in-the fall of 2003, including Madison Avenue. Future sites are currently planned for 2004 and beyond. The stores will have a masculine design that is distinct from, yet complementary to Talbots Misses stores. The Mens line will continue to be offered through a separate Mens catalog, mailed in the spring and fall, as well as on-line at www.talbots.com
