Talbots Launches 10th Annual Women's Scholarship Fund to Help Women Return to College Later in Life.

HINGHAM, Mass. -- Talbots today announced the launch of its tenth annual Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund, a program that annually awards $100,000 in college scholarships to women seeking a bachelor's or associate's degree as·so·ci·ate's degree

Sponsored by the Talbots Charitable Foundation, the Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund awards five $10,000 scholarships and fifty $1,000 scholarships to women throughout the U.S. each year. Since its inception in 1997, the Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund has awarded close to one million dollars in college scholarships to over 500 women ranging in age from their late 20's to their early 60's.

Each year, Talbots enlists the volunteer support of accomplished women from a range of fields to help select the five finalists. The 2007 Board of Judges includes:

* Naomi Judd - Multi-platinum award-winning country music artist, author and host "Naomi's New Morning" on the Hallmark Channel

* LaChanze - Tony Award-winning actress of Broadway's "The Color Purple"

* S. Epatha Merkerson - Emmy, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award-winning actress

* Jeanette Walls - Best-selling author of The Glass Castle and MSNBC MSNBC Microsoft/National Broadcasting Company  columnist

Applications for the Talbots Women's Scholarship are now available at all Talbots U.S. stores, and can be downloaded online at http://www.talbots.com/about/scholar/scholar.asp. Eligible applicants must be women currently residing in the United States who earned a high school diploma A high school diploma is a diploma awarded for the completion of high school. In the United States and Canada, it is considered the minimum education required for government jobs and higher education. An equivalent is the GED.  or GED GED

The postmark deadline for entries is January 2, 2007, or until 1,000 eligible applications have been received, whichever is earlier. Scholarship recipients will be notified by the end of July 2007.
