LOS ALTOS Los Altos (lôs ăl`tōs, lŏs), residential city (1990 pop. 26,303), Santa Clara co., W Calif.; inc. 1952. There is diversified light manufacturing. , Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 20, 2001

Talarian Corp (Nasdaq:TALR), a leading provider of infrastructure software solutions that deliver data and content in real time, today announced Starbase Corporation (Nasdaq:SBAS (Satellite-Based Augmentation System) See GPS augmentation system. ) as the latest company to introduce a product embedding the Talarian(R) SmartSockets(R) technology.

Starbase is the leading provider of end-to-end collaborative products for both the development and management of content and code for enterprise and e-business applications. The StarbaseMPX Server, which will begin shipping in August, accelerates the speed of information exchanged between StarTeam clients and the StarbaseMPX Server by employing the SmartSockets messaging architecture. By taking advantage of SmartSockets, Starbase has been able to include advanced publish/subscribe technology into their MPX MPX - Multiplexor Channel  Servers and associated applications.

SmartSockets' unique implementation allows it to be embedded into applications because it is so easily installed, configured, and managed. The resulting customer applications have advanced distributed data delivery capability that is reliable, scalable, and performs in real-time. This can give Talarian customers both a cost and competitive advantage by allowing them to concentrate on their core competencies while performing minimal work to leverage and integrate SmartSockets.

"The StarbaseMPX Server is just the first of a number of Starbase releases to use this highly efficient SmartSockets architecture. We chose to embed SmartSockets because it enables us to deliver to our global enterprise customers the speed and scalability requirements they need and that no competitor can match," stated William R. Stow, III president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "Talarian's SmartSockets communication technology has enabled us to enhance the performance of our flagship product, StarTeam, and deliver dramatic improvements in developer productivity."

"We're honored to have Starbase join our impressive list of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  customers. Many of these customers consider us a competitive advantage because SmartSockets empowers their applications with extremely fast and scalable messaging," said Steve Gimnicher, vice president of marketing for Talarian. "Embedding SmartSockets allows our customers to concentrate on their core competencies, which frequently gets them to market faster with significant cost savings."

Talarian's SmartSockets, the same messaging technology that drives today's message-intensive online stock exchanges, enables real-time scalable data delivery to the StarbaseMPX server.
