Takla Star - First Drill Hole Started on Project No.44.

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--JULY 9, 1996--TAKLA STAR (Alberta Stock Exchange: TKR ) Mr. James P. Stewart, President of Takla Star Resources Ltd., announced that the first hole of a 15-hole diamond drilling program on Project #44, near Nain, Labrador, was started at 09:00 hrs. on July 8th and is now well underway. This is the first of a series of holes designed to test at depth for Ni-Cu-Co bearing sulphides previously discovered on surface.

Initial geological surveys revealed extensive gossans and sulphide mineralization which define the Unity and Valley zones extending up to 3.5 km along strike and up to 175 m in width. One trench alone, across one of these zones, showed a 7 metre-wide section with 75 percent sulphides. This section had an average grade of 0.96 percent Ni, 1.16 percent Cu and 0.15 percent Co.

The subsurface potentials of these mineralized zones were revealed by the presence of multiple strong EM conductors. These conductors correlate with sulphide mineralization mapped at surface. A deep penetrating ground TEM survey indicated that the strongest conductors occur below the bedrock surface.

The exploration/drilling program on Project #44 is part of a joint venture with NDT Ventures Ltd., who are the operators of the project.
