Taking the initiative: 'Stay Work Play' Web site aims at retaining N.H.'s college grads.


A new Web site has been launched aimed at inspiring New Hampshire's recent graduates to remain in the Granite granite, coarse-grained igneous rock of even texture and light color, composed chiefly of quartz and feldspars. It usually contains small quantities of mica or hornblende, and minor accessory minerals may be present.  State instead of settling elsewhere.

 is one of the outcomes of the "Stay Work Play" initiative, which has its roots in the University System of New Hampshire's 55% Initiative and is seeking to convince more young people to remain in or return to New Hampshire New Hampshire, one of the New England states of the NE United States. It is bordered by Massachusetts (S), Vermont, with the Connecticut R. forming the boundary (W), the Canadian province of Quebec (NW), and Maine and a short strip of the Atlantic Ocean (E).  after they have graduated from college. The goal is to encourage at least 55 percent of the new graduates to stay in the state, compared to approximately 50 percent who currently remain.

An association that is given tax-free status. Donations to a non-profit organization are often tax deductible as well.

Examples of non-profit organizations are charities, hospitals and schools.

It serves as an independent organization to run the Web site and associated marketing effort geared at providing comprehensive information on what New Hampshire can offer to the 20- to 30-year-old demographic in terms of staying, working and playing in New Hampshire.

Employer participation

He said the program also is employing such social networking sites A Web site that provides a virtual community for people interested in a particular subject or just to "hang out" together. Members create their own online "profile" with biographical data, pictures, likes, dislikes and any other information they choose to post.  as Facebook, through the group page "Stay Work Play NH" and YouTube, where users can also post videos from around the Granite State.

One of the other important pieces of the Web site--which was developed and hosted by Manchester Web development company Silveffech--is the Stay Work Play Employer Incentive program, through which participating employers will offer as a benefit contributions of up to $8,000 to pay down the federal student loans of newly hired graduates who agree to work for the company for a specific period of time.

In exchange for participating in the program, the hiring companies will receive high visibility on the StayWorkPlay.org Web site.

Other benefits for participating employers include direct links to the company from the Web site, visibility at special events and job fairs at colleges and universities, and use of a logo that identifies the company as a participant.

Two Manchester companies--advanced safety materials developer GenTex and IT firm Dynamic Network Systems--have already signed up for the program.
