Plot Synopsis Killer Croc, a half-man, half reptile plans to submerge all of Gotham in water in order to facilitate his plundering of the city. Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region, last week led to the catastrophic landslide landslide, rapid slipping of a mass of earth or rock from a higher elevation to a lower level under the influence of gravity and water lubrication. More specifically, rockslides are the rapid downhill movement of large masses of rock with little or no hydraulic flow, in La Conchita and caused flooding that closed canyon roads across the region. So the Business Journal asks: How were you affected by the recent storms? George Suku President USA Time EXpress The rain has affected us pretty badly as far as driving around. It's just basically really hard to work. The drivers have complained because the roads are closed and they get paid on commission so they're complaining it takes too long to finish one job. I'd say 30 percent of the work is not getting done. Susan Fisk Fisk , James 1834-1872. American railroad financier and speculator who attempted in 1869 to corner the gold market with Jay Gould, leading to Black Friday, a day of nationwide financial panic. Vice President Fisk-It Plumbing It was pure chaos here, especially Monday when the downpour came. It was primarily flooding, water getting into pools and houses. A lot of basement furnaces and water heaters went out. We went into a few basements where the water was waist high. The dirt was so saturated around the houses there was no place else for the water to go. We had guys working overtime, even over the weekend. We ended up having to defer some calls. Lachlan Reed Director of Institutional Advancement Windward School Windward School is a private school in the Mar Vista section of Los Angeles, California, USA accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. It was started by writer/teacher Shirley Windward in 1971. The school currently enrolls 475 students in grades 7 through 12. On Monday evening, we canceled school for Tuesday because our bus service told us they would not be able to make pickups and the weather forecast predicted another downpour. We ended up giving the kids a day off on a day that, ironically, turned out to be gorgeous. I got a nice day off too. Kevin Snow Owner The Roof Group Inc. The only inconvenience to our business has been not being able to get to all the jobs that were scheduled. But the storm brought on a lot of new business. I went to a commercial building to take care of a leak and there was huge pond of water on the roof--about 150 square feet. It looked like the roof could cave in any minute. We suggested that they might want do something about the roof in the near future. A lingerie store had a roof drain clogged with bird feathers. It caused a waterfall waterfall, a sudden unsupported drop in a stream. It is formed when the stream course is interrupted as when a stream passes over a layer of harder rock—often igneous—to an area of softer and therefore more easily eroded rock; the edge of a cliff or into their display area and ruined a lot of lingerie. little creek that turned into the Colorado River Colorado RiverRiver, south-central Argentina. Its major headstreams, the Grande and Barrancas rivers, flow southward from the Andes Mountains and meet to form the Colorado near the Chilean border. It flows southeastward across northern Patagonia and the southern Pampas. . We couldn't get across it and it washed out one of the roads that goes into our facility. It slowed us up at least 50 percent. And now, instead of an hour and half to get to work I have to drive for two and a half hours. Juan Ramirez Manager Paulee Auto Body Shop It's definitely negatively affected us because it's harder to work in the cold and the rain. We work outside and we have to move cars around that are freshly painted. Paint takes longer to dry in the cold and damp. The rain hasn't increased our business because most tow trucks take customers to the nearest body shop or the shop of the owner's choice. Some smaller body shops depend on rain to increase their business, but not us. |
