Takehiko Nagakura's rendering of the interior of the unbuilt Danteum by Giuseppe Terragni Giuseppe Terragni (april 18, 1904 - july 19, 1943) was an Italian architect who worked primarily under the fascist regime of Mussolini and pioneered the Italian modern movement under the rubric of Rationalism.  and Pietro Lingeri, a still from one of Nagakura's short films about mythical structures. The drawing illustrates the intention of the architects of the late 1930s building to give a progression from Hell, through Purgatory purgatory (pûrg`ətôr'ē) [Lat.,=place of purging], in the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church, the state after death in which the soul destined for heaven is purified.  to Paradise.
