Even without personal upheaval, there's probably plenty to love about these music events around the state, especially when they are in such pleasant places as Sweet Home and Happy Valley. Pick a stage at Pickathon Though we didn't confirm with a new interview, we are sure the Avett Brothers would approve of your plan to high tail it out of town this weekend. Their advice, from their newest CD, "Emotionalism": "So when you run, make sure you run to something and not away from." It fits the situation, because you would be running toward woodsy meadows, a scenic outdoor stage and lots of smiling, friendly people. The Avett Brothers, playing Sunday, are one of the hotter names on the national roots scene. But the Pickathon lineup is packed with bright, rising stars performing on two outdoor stages and one indoor venue. Most are touring veterans, such as Saturday's headliner, the Gourds, who recently played the Shedd. Other nationally and regionally touring artists who are playing Pickathon and have been through Eugene recently are Erin McKeown, Jason Webley Jason Webley is a musician who began as a busker, playing accordion in the streets of Seattle, but has since moved in-doors and on stage, playing venues and festivals all across the world.
