IN-BUILDING WIRELESS SYSTEM handles 6 to 1,000+ handsets. Air Impact, a multi-cell, in-building wireless communications system, works behind business-telephone switching platforms produced by Comdial and other leading switch manufacturers.

Providing seamless handoff between cells, the Air Impact system accommodates up to 32 cell sites and more than 1,000 wireless handsets. Telephone reception is both clear and secure, as digital encryption assures privacy. Transmission is over the 1.9 GHz personal communications services (PCS) band, dedicated solely to this type of wireless application. It uses unlicensed spectrum, avoiding monthly service charges or fees. The lightweight, pocket-sized handset features programmable function keys, volume control, headset jack, internal antenna, and an informative LCD.

Air Impact is designed for use by large retailers, schools, health care facilities, manufacturing companies, and other businesses where employees roam and are often unable to take calls at a desk. A complete six-user system, including base unit, wireline interface, and handsets with battery packs and charging stands, retails for approximately $6,200.
