Takara Bio Introduces New Protein Expression System.

: 4974) began marketing its new protein generation system SSP (1) (Service Switching Point) The local exchange node in an SS7 telephone network. The SSP can be part of the voice switch or in a separate computer connected to it.  (Single Protein Production) System and related product mRNA Interferase-Mazf on October 19. The system was co-developed by Dr. Masayori Inoue of the Univesrity of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and the company.

The new system, which combines the company's existing protein expression system Cold Shock Expression System with Mazf, a kind of RNA interference enzyme, can effectively express a large volume of target proteins by using only Escherichia coli bacteria.

There are five models for SSP System, and prices range from 63,000 yen ($545) to 126,000 yen ($1,100). MRNA Interferase MazF sells for 52,500 yen ($455). Takara Bio has an exclusive worldwide license for the new system.
