Takara Bio Establishes Efficient Method to Produce Polyterpene, Tumor Growth Inhibitor.

Tokyo, Japan, Aug 30, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - Takara Bio announced on August 29 that it has established an efficient method to extract polyterpene, a tumor growth inhibitor, using alkaline aqueous solution. Polyterepene is an organic compound derived from hypsizius marmoreus, a kind of edible mushroom.

Compared with the conventional extracting method, the new approach can yield polyterpene 30 times more efficiently.

Further, in its recent experiments using tumor-bearing mice, the company confirmed that high-purity polyterpene purified by high performance liquid chromatography High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is a form of column chromatography used frequently in biochemistry and analytical chemistry. It is also sometimes referred to as high-pressure liquid chromatography.  (HPLC HPLC high-performance liquid chromatography.
