Taiwan Foundry and Assembly Contractors Standardize On Schlumberger ATE Common Platform; Schlumberger ATE Triples Shipments to Leading Taiwanese Companies.
Multiple ITS 9000EXA and ITS 9000CV systems will be delivered through June of this year to leading Taiwanese companies including: Davicom Semiconductor, Inc.; Integrated Technology Express, Inc.; MediaTek, Inc.; Sigurd Corporation; Siliconware Corporation; United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC); Walsin Advanced Electronics Corporation; and Winbond Electronics, Ltd.
Devices to be tested on the Schlumberger ITS 9000 common platform include 3D graphic devices, CD-ROM associated ICs, telecommunications and data communications parts, and PC support ICs.

Common Platform Lowers Cost
The unique ITS 9000 common platform includes configurations for testing complex system-on-a-chip devices through high-end microprocessors and ASICs. By combining a common software environment, Advanced Symbolic ATE Programming (ASAP(R)), and a flexible Sequencer-Per-Pin(R) (SPP) architecture customers can develop a universal test program which can then be run on any other Schlumberger system. Therefore, customers no longer need a mix of different systems to test a wide range of devices -- the ITS 9000 systems can test them all, including 2D and 3D graphics, super I/O, microcontrollers, MPEG decoders, CD-ROM devices. This cost-effective solution results in lower operating and training costs, better use of engineering resources and compatible spares.
ITS 9000EXA, the Industry's True System-On-a-Chip System
With full digital, analog and embedded memory capability, the ITS 9000EXA is designed specifically to meet the requirements of highly complex system-on-a-chip devices. The ITS 9000EXA provides the uncompromised digital performance needed for multimedia devices -- 100/200MHz data rates -- together with fully synchronized high-performance analog capabilities in a low noise floor environment and a 16X,16Y,32Z hardware algorithmic pattern generator. This enables Schlumberger to address emerging technologies used in the mixed-signal and system-on-a-chip market.
ITS 9000CV Provides Cost-Effective Solution
Introduced by Schlumberger ATE in December 1996, the ITS 9000CV 100MHz, 256 pin system incorporates superior hardware and software parallel architecture allowing simultaneous testing on two test heads, true parallel test of 16 devices, independent test for each site and one test program for any combination of sites. In a study conducted by the European Community, usage of this system resulted in a 50 percent cost-of-test reduction.
