Taisho Pharmaceutical Begins Marketing Glucocare Powder, Specified Health Food for Inhibiting Rise in Blood Sugar Level.


Tokyo, Japan, Oct 26, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - Taisho Pharmaceutical has begun marketing Glucocare Powder Stick, a new product for the company's food for specified health use (FOSHU FOSHU Foods for Specified Health Use (Japan) ) series Livita, across Japan. The new product, which contains resistant dextrin dextrin, any one of a number of carbohydrates having the same general formula as starch but a smaller and less complex molecule. They are polysaccharides and are produced as intermediate products in the hydrolysis of starch by heat, by acids, and by enzymes. , helps moderate sugar absorption after meal and inhibits a sharp rise in the blood sugar level.

The new product is to be taken by dissolving in water, either hot or iced. Available in a pocket-sized package, the product is convenient to take along. A 30-pack box sells for 2,940 yen ($25). The company expects to achieve 200 million yen ($1.7 mil) in sales in the first year.
