Partnership Focused on Integrating Network Elements and Systems

Into a Mobile Services Architecture

Tahoe Networks, Inc., the emerging leader of network infrastructure at the Mobile Internet Refers to gaining access to the Internet using a lightweight, handheld device. See Mobile IP, PDA, smartphone and mobile TV.  Edge(TM) (MIE) and Kabira Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of software solutions for convergent network services, today announced a marketing and technology partnership that will enable GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) The first high-speed digital data service provided by cellular carriers that used the GSM technology. GPRS added a packet-switched channel to GSM, which uses dedicated, circuit-switched channels for voice conversations. , CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) A method for transmitting simultaneous signals over a shared portion of the spectrum. The foremost application of CDMA is the digital cellular phone technology from QUALCOMM that operates in the 800 MHz band and 1.9 GHz PCS band.  and UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) The GSM implementation of the 3G wireless phone system. Part of IMT-2000, UMTS provides service in the 2 GHz band and offers global roaming and personalized features.  operators to rapidly integrate new mobile data services into their existing operations. As a result of the partnership, mobile operators will be able to accelerate the launch of innovative and revenue-generating mobile data services that are essential for the success of next generation wireless networks.

Unlike traditional IP infrastructure solutions that just provide connectivity, Kabira Technologies and Tahoe Networks' integrated solution will allow wireless operators to take full advantage of their IP network to deploy quality personalized per·son·al·ize

data services while significantly improving time-to-market of service delivery.

"One of the biggest challenges facing wireless operators will be to integrate their existing wireless network and enterprise systems to introduce Internet data services within their current networks. Wireless operators need a solution to integrate separate physical subscriber, services, networks and business systems for voice and data services," said Grover Righter, vice president of technical strategy, Kabira Technologies.

"We're partnering with Kabira Technologies to expose IP services to billing systems, provisioning systems, and applications by integrating our interfaces and processes into Kabira's Infrastructure Server. As a result, mobile operators, system integrators See systems integrator. , and application developers can rapidly deploy IP services offering new 3G wireless solutions. The solution reduces development and deployment times and costs, creating sustainable competitive advantage," said Alan Cohen cohen

The partnership facilitates an open wireless services architecture for the introduction of IP capabilities. Such an architecture will extend the life of the investments made in legacy systems by combining Tahoe Networks' infrastructure and operations solutions with Kabira's mediation mediation, in law, type of intervention in which the disputing parties accept the offer of a third party to recommend a solution for their controversy. "Success in wireless data, especially in mobile cellular networks will depend heavily upon deploying, provisioning and billing in a packet-based environment. This is a big leap for service operators which to date have operated almost exclusively with circuit switched systems. Air interface changes such as GPRS, EDGE and UMTS are only one piece of the puzzle. Carriers have to also deploy new systems to handle the IP traffic. That's going to require changes," said Ed Snyder, JP Morgan H&Q.

"The ability of the mobile operators to deploy, manage, and account for new services is greatly enhanced by data infrastructure and software that is both intelligent enough to collect application and user specific accounting information and dynamically adapt individual user's services based on triggers from billing mediation and other external systems," said Verne Anton, principal analyst, Gartner Group (company) Gartner Group - One of the biggest IT industry research firms.
