Tadpole Authorizes Workstation Technologies to Resell SPARCbook Line of Portable Workstations.


AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 22, 1997--Tadpole Technology Inc., the leader in workstation-class portable computing, Wednesday announced a reseller agreement with Workstation Technologies Inc. in which the Fremont, Calif.-based value-added reseller A value-added reseller (VAR) is a company that adds some feature(s) to an existing product(s), then resells it (usually to end-users) as an integrated product or complete "turn-key" solution.  will market Tadpole's award-winning line of SPARCbook(TM) notebooks and mobile servers.

The products include Tadpole's top-of-the-line SPARCbook 3000 Series, 170 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  TurboSPARC-based models featuring 12.1-inch displays and the functional equivalent of a SPARCstation 20 that users can take anywhere. Also included in the agreement are the 170 MHz Tadpole tadpole, larval, aquatic stage of any of the amphibian animals. After hatching from the egg, the tadpole, sometimes called a polliwog, is gill-breathing and legless and propels itself by means of a tail.  SPARCbook 3TX, the 110 MHz Tadpole SPARCbook 3GX; and the 110 MHz Tadpole SPARCbook Server.
