Tacit Networks, the leader in enterprise-wide branch office IT solutions, today announced the next generation of products, features and functionality to be delivered over the next twelve months that will lead the way for an even broader spectrum of branch office IT solutions, including a higher performing, more flexible and robust generation of WAFS and other IT infrastructure services. By leveraging Tacit Networks' strengths in Branch Office IT services as well as the native Microsoft technologies used in the company's current file and email optimization solutions, the company will provide an expanded set of applications in the branch office, including solutions that increase performance of TCP-based applications through protocol acceleration, enhanced data access, availability and resiliency through support for disconnected WAFS operations, and new management technologies to improve the management of large scale deployments in Windows-based IT infrastructure environments. To protect and maximize customer investments, these new solutions will also be made available via seamless, non-disruptive upgrades to all currently deployed Tacit Networks' products.

Product Features / Functionality

Tacit Networks' latest roadmap includes the following new products and features:

--TCP-based Protocol Acceleration

As a complement to Tacit Networks' native support for CIFS, NFS and Exchange application optimizations, Tacit Networks will be introducing protocol optimizations that will benefit all TCP-based applications in a WAN environment, including applications that leverage commonly-used protocols such as HTTP and FTP.

--Disconnected WAFS Operations

For certain branch offices connected via wireless links or unreliable landline connections, WAN outages can disrupt workers for hours at a time. Tacit Networks' current technology can survive short WAN disruptions without loss or corruption of data, however, over the next 12 months the company will add extensions to its Wellspring product architecture to enable branch office users to continue to work on open files served from a central location and even create new files during WAN failures. Made possible by Tacit Networks' unique distributed file system technology, this capability will ensure that even the harshest branch office environments can leverage the benefits of WAFS while preserving data accessibility and integrity and continuing normal work when the WAN is down.

--Large-Scale Management Technologies

To handle increasing demand for deployments of hundreds or thousands of devices within a single enterprise, Tacit Networks will be introducing a management console application and tools that natively integrate into Windows-based IT environments. Utilizing standard Windows IT capabilities such as Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) for reporting and Active Directory for device auto configuration and auto discovery, these tools will reduce administration and provide per-device configuration for major deployments of Tacit Networks appliances or software within the enterprise. In addition, these management tools will be compatible with the industry's largest ecosystem of Microsoft and third-party Windows management applications such as Microsoft Operations Manager (MoM) and IBM Tivoli.
