Political prisoner Heshmatollah Tabarzadi has been given his first furlough fur·lough
a. A leave of absence or vacation, especially one granted to a member of the armed forces.
b. A usually temporary layoff from work.
c. after three years in prison.
Tabarzadi was once one of the leading student leaders and dissidents in the country. He was repeatedly arrested and held for months at a time. He was last arrested in December 2009 during the crackdown that followed the 2009 presidential election.
Tabarzadi was one of the founders of the Union of Islamic Students and Alumni Associations as well as the Democratic Front of Iran. He ran several student publications such as Payame Daneshju and Neday-e Daneshju.
Tabarzadi was sentenced to 10 years in prison for "propaganda propaganda, systematic manipulation of public opinion, generally by the use of symbols such as flags, monuments, oratory, and publications. Modern propaganda is distinguished from other forms of communication in that it is consciously and deliberately used to against the regime and insuiting the Leader."
