TYME sponsors World Sprint Speedskating Championships.

MILWAUKEE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 31, 1995--TYME, one of the nation's largest electronic funds transfer (EFT) networks, has signed on as the first local sponsor of the 1995 World Sprint Speedskating Championships for Ladies and Men to be held February 18-19, 1995 at the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee.

``This is a first for us,'' says James H. Martin, TYME president. ``We've never done such high-profile marketing before, but we're excited about the opportunity and confident the exposure will even further strengthen the TYME name in Wisconsin.''

A recent survey of Wisconsin consumers by TYME showed an already strong correlation between electronic banking and the TYME name similar to the relationships between copiers and Xerox and tissue paper and Kleenex.

Both days of the championships will be televised on tape delay (the following weekend) on ABC's Wide World of Sports. ``The TYME name will be seen nationally, as well as locally,'' Martin says. ``We'll have signage throughout the Pettit Center during the event and we'll have an ATM in the lobby.''

The championships will be the last U.S. race for Olympic gold medal winner Bonnie Blair before she retires. ``This has got to give the event an even bigger boost which is a bonus for TYME,'' he says. Blair recently was named Sports Illustrated's ``Sportswoman of the Year.''

TYME's membership of 495 financial institutions operates 1,300 ATMs and 2,936 POS (point-of-sale) terminals throughout Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
