Jones joined TXI in 1969 as production manager for the South Texas Region. He also has served as assistant to the vice president for manufacturing; general manager in Alexandria, La. and regional vice president for South Texas.

Jones is active in professional associations. He served as chairman of the Cement Kiln Recycling Coalition, and he currently serves on the Environmental and Energy Committee of the American Portland Cement Alliance.

A 1965 graduate of Texas A&M University, Jones majored in business management. From 1965 to 1969, he was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.
