Besides adding a sixth night of programming this fall, the WB is spinning off a series from ``Buffy, the Vampire Slayer'' and moving ``Felicity'' and ``Charmed'' to new nights in their sophomore seasons.

The WB, which began operating in 1995 and aims its programming squarely at teens and young adults, will begin broadcasting on Friday nights in September. It hopes to add Saturdays in 2000.

The network is adding six new programs and canceling ``Smart Guy,'' ``The Wayans Bros BROS Brothers

Five of the WB's six nights will consist entirely of hourlong dramas, although some blur the line with comedy. All four of the network's half-hour situation comedies will be on Friday nights.

The network is moving ``Charmed'' to Thursday nights, signaling a new aggressiveness among networks in competing with NBC on its strongest night. ``Felicity'' will switch to Sunday nights.
