TWO WOMEN SHOT AS THEY STAND BY CAR POLICE STILL INVESTIGATING; BOTH EXPECTED TO SURVIVE.

MISSION HILLS - Two women were severely injured in·jure

 early Wednesday when an assailant in a sport utility vehicle opened fire on them as they stood near a car.

It was the second such shooting from a vehicle in as many days in the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

The women were standing near a car in the 15500 block of Rinaldi Street about 4:30 a.m. when a man driving a bright yellow SUV with a luggage rack began shooting, said Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Police Officer Adriana Sanchez.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene and found the women injured in the street. They were rushed to area hospitals, Sanchez said.

One of the women suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was listed in critical condition. The other received wounds to her lower back and was listed in stable condition, police said.

The women, ages 39 and 44, were not identified out of concern for their safety. Both are expected to survive, Sanchez said.

A motive for the shooting was unknown.

Police were searching for the driver of the SUV, who was described only as a Latino wearing thick, black-rimmed glasses, Sanchez said.

Meanwhile, police continued to search for the assailants who shot a Hollywood man to death in a car-to-car shooting along the northbound north·bound
