Two residents, one in Canyon Country, the other did not say, have complained to the college that someone knocked on their front doors, identified themselves as students and asked for money to support a journalism project at the college. When the residents refuse, they asked for money more directly, spokesman John McElwain said.

The solicitors were described only as one male and one female, McElwain said.

McElwain said the college is urging residents approached for contributions to ask for identification and to get descriptions of any such solicitors to report to sheriff's deputies.
